Absence of curtain sign or partial curtain sign:

In the absence of pleural

effusion, aerated lung lies directly cephalad to the diaphragm and liver or

spleen and will descend with respiration to obscure the view of these

structures; a normal finding known as the “curtain” sign.

lung pulse represents the transmission

of cardiac pulsations through the lung parenchyma and also indicates that lung

is immediately underneath the pleura
